Natural Ability Vs. Experience

Hello,
You hear a lot about the need for past experience. That may be helpful, but only if the person has no natural abilities. Natural abilities allow you to adapt to any new circumstance and or crisis. When I was just eleven, my dad and I went to a Veterans' dinner at our local VFW. My dad went on in and was visiting with his fellow Vets. I stayed at the entrance hopping to see some of my friends coming in. I was watching the person at the cash box selling tickets for the dinner. I was not there long when that man got up and announced that he was sick. There was then a mild panic among the Vets standing there as to who would take his place. I suddenly felt a hand grab me. It was that of a stern looking older Vet and he was maneuvering ME to the cash box chair saying, "Hey kid, have you ever made change before"? Not wanting to have everyone hear me, I quietly said, "no, I haven't". Next, I found myself sitting in front of that cash box under the gaze of all those service hardened Vets. They all had strange looks on their faces, like, "What is this little kid doing there next to our cash"? One even said, "Don't put HIM there"! That wily old Vet who sat me in the hot seat spoke up and said, "He'll do, just fine". He then proceeded to give me a flash course in how to take cash and count back their change. Immediately he said, "Got it kid"? and walked away... I started trembling a bit when I took the first cash and made change, especially with all those eyes on me, but I stayed as calm as I could and as the old Vet had said, I did just fine. What I learned there was, that natural ability can overcome any need for experience. I have applied that lesson throughout my life and have also shown others how it can work for them too.
